Classes are all live, online, Zoom, and run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Pacific Time each day. Each seminar is 40 hours, divided into parts A & B. There are 16 hours of self-study following video lecture, meditations, qigong practice and more as well as PDF documents. Each seminar segment has 3, 4 hour days of live online teaching online. Our Shamanic Chinese Medicine/Medical Qigong is a balanced program that draws upon Chinese Energetic Medicine, Qigong and Shamanism.  It is one of the four branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Practitioners study, master and utilize the secret knowledge passed down from the Shamanic Wu healers of ancient times. In SCM/MQG, the physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual bodies are understood to all be connected. When an imbalance in the physical body manifests, it has its roots in the patient's mental/emotional, and spiritual fields. To restore well being, the practitioner works to clear negative, stuck and stagnant energies in all of the fields. This helps the Qi to flow smoothly, which then helps restore balance and health. 

SCM/MQG healers learn to move between spirit and matter to bring healing to physical, energetic, emotional and spiritual disorders. Classes are an exciting way to accelerate your own personal growth as you develop the skills of a true healer.

An Empty Mountain Institute Practitioner Certificate is awarded for seminar attendance, completing homework exams, final exams, and participating the the 3 day clinic. Shamanic Chinese Medicine and IIQSCM Standards Level Practitioner Certificates are awarded upon completion of all requirements.

Certification at Empty Mountain Institute runs three levels: Practitioner, Therapist, and Masters. Each level is built from four five-day seminars and a shared clinic, taught live online to the standards of the International Institute of Medical Qigong. The Masters level runs to 1,000 hours and closes with a clinical internship working with members of the public. Graduates practice as certified Medical Qigong practitioners and therapists, and some go on to teach. 

Teacher Wendy Lang holds a Master's degree from the International Institute of Medical Qigong, founded by Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson, and has taught its three-year practitioner training for over sixteen years. Her own study began with Minke de Vos and continued under Master Mantak Chia, where she earned her Universal Healing Tao instructor credentials.

Each seminar provides 40 hours of training, divided into two parts: Part A and Part B, with 20 hours of training in each part.

All live classes are held on Zoom, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Pacific Time, for four hours each day.

SELF-STUDY MATERIALS

The 16 hours of self-study include recorded video lectures, guided meditations, Qigong practices, PDF handouts, and other learning materials. Students can complete these activities at their own pace.

DETAILED COURSE DESCRIPTION

Seminar 1: Introduction to SCM/MQG

This first course introduces the student to exercises and meditations designed to heal imbalances, increase vitatliy, calm the mind, and reconnect with spirit.

Students will gain a deep understanding of Daoist mysticism and the spiritual basis of Chinese Medicine. They will experience their own ability to heal others through the power of invocation, intention, sound and visualization.

The course will give the student an understanding of energy tonification, purgation, and regulation of the body's organs and energy channels, as well as strengthening the body's protective energy field (Wei Qi).

Seminar 2: Introduction to Diagnosis and Treatments
Chinese Medicine Training
This second course is designed to introduce the student to the further theories of energy purgation, tonification, regulation and cultivation. In addition, students will work to strengthen the body's protective energy field (Wei Qi) and learn techniques to avoid absorbing Toxic Qi. There will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with the higher beings that will empower them as healers.
Students are led through a progressive series of advanced Shen Gong (Spirit Skill) meditations and exercises, used to develop advanced intuitive diagnostic skills. There will be lectures and demonstrations on the emotional roots of disease.   Additionally, students will learn the Basic treatment protocol for treating patients.

Seminar 4: The Treatment of Organ Diseases & Medical Qigong Prescription Exercises

This course introduces students to a new level of clinical protocols and internal organ treatments, as well as the Medical Qigong exercises and meditations prescribed as homework in Clinic.

How to work with death and dying
Diagnostic circles to read energy
Introduction to SCM/MQG clinics
Students will be required to write a clinical exam and practical exam followed by a graduation celebration. 

CLINICAL INTERNSHIP

Students will have an opportunity to practice treatments in a live setting. Volunteer patients will receive SCM sessions, as well as the Medical Qigong exercises and meditations, in this intensive three-day clinic practicum. All level of students participate together and less experienced Therapist and Masters students share their wisdom with the Practitioners. Public sessions in the morning will be followed by discussion of treatments and student sessions in the afternoon.

FAQ

How do I become a certified Medical Qigong practitioner?

The Practitioner Program is the first level of Empty Mountain Institute’s certification, taught live online by Zoom across four seminars, each in two parts, followed by a three-day clinic. A Practitioner Certificate is awarded for seminar attendance, homework and final exams, and taking part in the clinic. There are no prerequisites.

How many hours does it take to become certified in Medical Qigong?

The Practitioner Program is 200 hours. It leads on to the Therapist and Masters programs, and the Masters level runs to 1,000 hours, closing with a clinical internship working with members of the public.

Is the training recognized?

Training follows the standards of the International Institute of Medical Qigong.
